Teddy Bears - Expressing yourself through crochet

 Amigurumi Teddy Bears

Welcome on board!

Photos of teddy bears to brighten up your day.

All made with the design: Teddy Marta
Making process in my previous post: making teddy bears

Amigurumi toys are one way to express my creativity. I have been making amigurumi toys on and off for 10 years. It has become more a form of art. Yarn is a medium. I have hand-painted all the safety eyes for these amigurumi teddy bear toys. I painted a lot, now concentrating more on designing. This is something I am signed up for. I live to create with my hook, my hands, my imagination, that sometimes makes my brain hurt - there´s so much inside. Won´t deny it anymore. If something is worth doing, do it! If I win somebody else also wins. If I create, somebody else can also create, following patterns, and making crocheted toys. It is not just crochet you discover a lot of things about you: everything really: what drives you, what´s easy for you, what´s difficult, colors, emotions, shapes etc. You can actually make a physical object - for me, it´s important in nowadays world. So just print out the pattern and disconnect :):)

Let the toys speak instead

There are also some useful crochet videos to help you along the way: how to add safety eyes, how to embroider the nose, how to stuff your teddy bear, how to assemble body parts etc.

I have used from 2mm up to 4,5mm hook size with this teddy bear pattern and it has always turned out great. I´ve created a design that looks lovely when tiny or big.

White on white snow

Scheepjes XL: 70% Cotton, 30% Acrylic. Gives this a bit vintage feel that I like on my teddy bears because the design has this traditional and classic look. Crochet teddy bear that lasts.

With different safety eyes and thread to embroider noses, you can create a whole new look.

I have been designing and creating crochet toys for more than 10 years now and if I can use only single crochet stitch to create something like this (yes, it takes time, a lot more you think or I have ever anticipated  :)), it really fascinates me, the way how to create lovely and memorable crochet toys with only single crochet stitch. Personally, I don´t need fancy and complicated stitches to create something beautiful. I want to show you that with only single crochet you can crochet up a stunning teddy bear. Simplicity is my thing. Let the teddy talk :)

Please do share your versions with Lucas the teddy on Instagram or Ravelry using tags: #lucastheteddy or @_happyamigurumi. I´d be delighted to see them all. Thanks and see you in a short time with more crochet toys and patterns.

Lucas the Teddy Bear Pattern - Amigurumi Crochet

Lucas the Teddy Bear (We´re one but we´re not the same!)

My latest three teddy bears: made with Lucas the Teddy Bear Pattern  The original Lucas the teddy bear pattern calls for hook size number 2, but here I used 3mm crochet hook for the very first time in my life. :) I use 2.5mm hook with most of my yarns, they are often DK/Worsted weight or 2mm with Sports weight for smaller ones like this mini bunny.
Lucas the Teddy Bear works with all kind of yarn and hook sizes, design won´t change. Excellent. And I like to follow my patterns on a smartphone. :)
I used Scheepjes Stone Washed XL yarn (Yellow Jasper), 3mm crochet hook, 8mm hand-painted safety eyes, cotton thread for the nose. Needed 3 balls/skeins on the dot of this beautiful yarn - 150 grams. I recommend buying 4, just in case, if you´d want to try with a 3.5mm crochet hook as well.
I followed more or less this list:

1st ball: legs, ears, a tail

2nd ball: a body, a hand

3rd ball: second hand, a head

They would make such a nice gift for triplets :)
You can give your time by giving someone a teddy bear you´ve crocheted up yourself. Big and small at the same time. Teddy bear is a lifetime friend - a timeless keepsake.

My desk with my very first Lucas the Teddy bear on the right side.

I also bought Stone Washed XL Moon Stone and some other colors, want to make more crochet teddy bears, 6 all together. Will see...
Thank you for stopping by. It´s so nearly the time to close the door on 2018 and step into 2019. See you! I´m grateful. Thank you!

Baby Shower Gift Ideas: Crochet Teddy Bear

Baby Shower Gifts

Teddy Bear Crochet Pattern

If you want to make a baby shower gift from the heart, then take some days to crochet a teddy bear. I have a perfect Amigurumi Crochet Teddy Bear Pattern for the baby shower: Lucas the Teddy
Personally I adore hand crochet teddy bear toys - They just have this something extra that every mom would like for her child. Crochet Teddy Bear is a lifetime friend and a nice memory - unique gift that is guaranteed to last forever. Crochet Teddy Bears are well loved by young and old. Lucas the Teddy Bear Design works with different yarns and hook sizes, the design won´t change. That´s why I like the design. Instead of buying a ready made teddy bear you could always consider crocheting one yourself. It takes time but it´s totally worth it.

My baby shower gifts: a Crochet Teddy Bear and a Crochet Rug

I also crocheted a nice rug using tube yarn. Unfortunately didn´t write the pattern down. Love those minimalist colors - different shades of grey and white. My baby shower gifts: a nice combination of a teddy bear and a handmade rug.

And the baby with her baby shower gifts

Just lovely, no words needed :)

Vintage-inspired teddy bear patterns are now available for you to crochet a bear or two. They have this classic look which gives the childhood teddy bear effect. Why you should give it a try, will give you some reasons:
a) very little sewing required. Amigurumi Teddy Marta is fully jointed, meaning there are only ears to be sewn to head.

b) inserting plastic safety joints is easy, because I´ve designed the teddy bear pattern with little holes in a body and in head where to place plastic safety joints (placing joints, joining head to body using safety joints), so everything has made very easy for you

c) you can make very many classic amigurumi teddy bears with this teddy bear pattern. Create your own Teddy Bear as a gift for a child, for a grandchild for closed ones, or why not to yourself, if you don´t have one. Teddy is a lifetime friend.

And you can customize it to suit any occasion. And you can crochet scarves in various colors to make it even cuter!
